More about Jill Garity

A native Virginian, Jill Garity, earned a B.A. from the University of Miami and pursued a business career for many years while experimenting with painting. In 2006 the urge to become a serious artist brought her to the Vander Zee School, drawn by Rob Vander Zees unique painting style and dedication to his students. Jill has been strongly influenced by the American Tonalist movement, and the Hudson River School. She feels that no one style should dictate the creation of a painting, and she might use a tranquil palette, or a more colorful one to express the romance, sensuality, and stark beauty of the rural landscape. From her home in the Virginia Piedmont, Jill spends many exhilarating days roaming the countryside of the Blue Ridge by foot or horseback. She retains the images of these landscapes in her memory and calls upon them as she approaches each canvas. Jill exhibits regularly at juried shows including the AiM Gallery in Middleburg, VA.
